Traces - Album Artwork

This is a comission piece for the german epic folk metal band Ash of Ashes. They wanted a majestic landscape with faint traces of humanity, and a road winding from the background to the foreground. I took inspiration from landscape painters like Lars Hertervig, Hans Gude and Caspar David Friedrich, as I wanted to hit a good mix between plausible naturalism and a more expressive and dreamlike style.
